About the Author

Dr. Marlo Lawrence grew up in a small town, Waterville, Maine, where she first learned to appreciate the power of a good story and the joy of listening closely to the world around her. After 25 years as an audiologist, time as a professor and clinical director, she’s now blending her love of language and her expertise in hearing into something new: playful books that help children practice sounds while enjoying imaginative stories.

Marlo now lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, with her husband, Kevin, and their two sons, Drew and Chase. When she’s not writing about Hush, Noodle, Mimi, Flick, and Sunny, you’ll probably find her cheering on a sports game, playing board games with her family, or being followed around by her very large dog. She believes that learning should feel joyful, that kids learn best when they’re laughing, and that stories can be a powerful tool for both parents and teachers.

With The Sound Garden stories, Marlo invites families and educators to plant the seeds of listening, speaking, and confidence—one rhyme, one giggle, and one page at a time.
